Timeline

The Timeline Exercise was the first activity to be facilitated as part of Conversations. Presented with a deconstructed history of race relations Vancouver, participants were invited to create a collective timeline of race and climate, synthesizing world events and their own lived experience to establish context for future discussions.

Why a collective timeline?

Establishing the local context of race and climate change

Sharing formative moments in participants’ lived experiences

Creating a collective reference point for future discussions

Please note that the Timeline exercise is specific to the lands on which it is being facilitated. The following timelines were designed with UBC Vancouver campus in mind, with resources drawn from the Vancouver Status of Women (VSW)’s History in our faces on occupied land: a race relations timeline.
